Open Theological Seminar: "The Language of Theology and Visual Arts: A Reading of the Book of Revelation"

The Eastern European Institute of Theology invites you to an open theological seminar on "The Language of Theology and Visual Art: Reading the Book of Revelation," which will be held on 22 May at 14:00 Kyiv time on the Zoom platform. Simultaneous translation into Ukrainian and English will be provided.

During the seminar, together with the speakers, we will explore:

  • the use of visual arts in biblical interpretation;
  • the role of art in the context of wars and conflicts;
  • the relevance of Christian art in the modern world.
Speakers
  • Anastasia Avramchuk — illustrator, member of the Society of Ukrainian Botanical Artists (SUBA)
  • Khrystyna Kvyk is an artist working in the genre of sacred art.
  • Pieter Kwant is the international director of the Langham Literature program from Langham Partnership International until 2022, publisher of Langham Creative Projects. For over fifty years he has been involved in book publishing, mainly in the theological field. He has been fond of art, theology, music, and film all his life, and after retiring he returned to painting. He is the author of “Inside the Rainbow: Seeing and Doing the Book of Revelation.”

The moderator of the event is Denys Kondyuk, a theologian, pastor of the "New City" Church (Kyiv), head of the Department of Worship at the Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary, and a graduate student at the Faculty of Theology at Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic).
