The Institute holds annual international conferences on important theological and related topics.
International theological conference «Church and Public: Love in Action»

2-4 May 2019, Lviv, Ukraine

The purpose of this conference was to initiate conversation between various Christian traditions concerning the shape of public theology in the contemporary political and cultural context. Conference participants attempted to come up with answers to the question of how the theological resources of Christianity—its spiritual and religious practices and socio-ethical doctrines—can contribute to the common good in matters of public and political concern. What should be the self-understanding of the church if it is to respond adequately to the challenges of pluralism, secularization, and globalization?

International theological conference «Methodologies of Theological Research: Problems and Perspectives»

This conference was aimed at discussing theological approaches, methods, and research practices in response to the changes in worldview and academic paradigms taking place today in the world as a whole, and in Eastern Europe in particular. The goal of the conference was to engender discussion concerning the theoretical and methodological issues that come up in contemporary theological research, and also to establish lines of communication among scholars specializing in the areas of theology and related disciplines.

International theological conference «The Reformation and the Development of Education»

The unfolding of the Reformation processes in Christianity at the end of the Middle Ages was closely linked to transformations in the scientific and educational sphere. At the same time, the Reformation itself became a powerful source for the renewal of education and science on the European continent. Therefore, the conference discussed the intellectual and educational origins of the Reformation, as well as its impact on the development of education in different European contexts.

The celebration of the anniversary of the Reformation offered the opportunity once again to analyze the historical path of Protestantism and to consider its influence on the development of the self-understanding of contemporary men and women and the dialectic of the human being's relationship with society and the world.

The goal of this conference was the activation of historical research of Reformation movements in the Eastern European context and their role in church transformation and the socio-cultural processes of the post-Reformation period.

International theological conference «The Reformation: Its History and Contemporary Significance»

Conference participants made it their goal to rethink the historical path of Protestantism and its influence on the development of Christianity and Western civilization as a whole, as well as to reevaluate the significance of the Reformation's legacy for the contemporary world and to ask questions concerning the tradition's creative potential in the search for answers to today's challenges to Christian theology and witness.
