
Alexander Negrov

Dr. Alexander I. Negrov is a theologian, leadership scholar, and founder of the Hodos Institute for Leadership Development and Research, which operates in both the United States and Ukraine. He earned a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies from the University of Pretoria (magna cum laude) and holds master’s degrees in Old and New Testament from Briercrest Biblical Seminary (Canada). He has also undertaken doctoral research in leadership at Durham University Business School (UK) and completed advanced executive education at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
Between 2005 and 2012, Dr. Negrov held the presidency of St. Petersburg Christian University, guiding its academic and leadership programs. His academic career includes appointments as Professor of New Testament, Director of an internationally validated master’s program in Biblical Studies, and adjunct faculty at California Baptist University and LeTourneau University in the United States.
He has been a visiting scholar or fellow at several universities, including Pacific Lutheran University, St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, and the John Jay Institute (USA). He is an active member of the International Leadership Association and has presented papers at major scholarly gatherings, including the Society of Biblical Literature and the Evangelical Theological Society.
Dr. Negrov has authored and edited more than a dozen books and numerous articles in theology and leadership studies. His English-language works include Leadership in Ukraine: Studies During Wartime (Edward Elgar, 2025, with Ronald Riggio), and Hodos Leadership (2025). His articles have appeared in Religions, International Journal of Cross-Cultural Management, Theology of Leadership Journal. His scholarship bridges biblical hermeneutics, leadership studies, and the intersection of faith and public life.
In addition to research and teaching, Dr. Negrov has supervised numerous graduate and doctoral students, advised theological institutions, and provided consultancy to non-profit and educational organizations in Europe and North America. His current research focuses on spirituality and leadership in war and post-war settings, and theological perspectives on leadership and society.
