
Sergiy Bermas

Research interests: theology of disability, intersections of Christian theology and trauma theories, systematic theology, pastoral theology, moral theology, and theology of spirituality.
Before 2022, Sergiy Bermas served as the pastor of the Holy Trinity Evangelical Christian Church in Odesa. He founded the church while working as a student dean at the Christian Open University of Humanities and Economics, in collaboration with the mission teams "International Partnership" and "Ukraine for Christ." The church was established to create a Christian community for students and people with higher education.
In 2000, Sergiy Bermas graduated from the Odesa Theological Seminary of the Evangelical Christian Baptists with a bachelor’s degree in theology. In 2006, he earned a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from the Ukrainian Bible Seminary in partnership with Birmingham Theological Seminary. In 2018, he completed a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Biblical and Theological Studies at the Talbot School of Theology, Biola University.
He taught theology and ethics at the Odesa Theological Seminary. His academic interests focus on systematic and pastoral theology, moral theology, and theology of spirituality.
He currently works at a home for people with disabilities and conducts research on spiritual renewal after traumatic experiences.
