Book Presentation "Scattered and Gathered: A Global Compendium of Diaspora Missiology" with Chris Wright
Eastern European Institute of Theology, Odesa Theological Seminary, and Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary invite everyone to the presentation of the Ukrainian translation of the remarkable book on diaspora missiology Scattered and Gathered: A Global Compendium of Diaspora Missiology. The book's presentation will be held on December 20 at 6:00 p.m. (online) with the well-known mission theologian Christopher Wright. We will discuss the book's Ukrainian translation and its relevance in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war with Ukrainian theologians Ivan Rusyn and Oleksandr Geychenko. Taras Dyatlik will moderate the event.
Christopher J. H. Wright
Christopher Wright is a mission theologian, an Anglican clergyman, and an Old Testament scholar. He studied for his PhD (in Theology) at Cambridge University in Cambridge, England. He was the International Director of the Langham Partnership (founded by John Stott), providing literature, scholarships, and preaching training for pastors in Majority World churches and seminaries. Dr. Wright currently serves as an International Ambassador for the Langham Partnership. He is the author of a number of commentaries on the Old Testament books and books on theology, including The Mission of God: Unlocking the Bible's Grand Narrative.
Oleksandr Geychenko
Oleksandr Geychenko is the Rector of the Odesa Theological Seminary. He received his PhD from the University of St. Andrews, United Kingdom. His research interests include ecclesiology, contextual theology, and Baptist theology. He is the author of a number of articles on ecclesiology and Baptist theology. Recently, Langham Publishing published his monograph Brotherhood in Christ: Toward a Ukrainian Baptist Perspective on Associations of Churches. Since 2015, he has been working as an Issue Editor of "Theological Reflections: Eastern European Journal of Theology."
Ivan Rusyn
Ivan Rusyn is the Rector of the Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary and Deputy Senior Bishop of the Ukrainian Evangelical Church. He holds a Master of Theology in Contextual Missiology from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom. PhD in Theology. His research interests include theology of mission, theory and practice of mission, religious studies, theology of religion, and interreligious and intercultural dialogues.
Taras Dyatlik
Taras Dyatlik is vice-rector for development and international cooperation of the Eastern European Institute of Theology, VSI-director of the Overseas Council-United World Mission in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. He is a member of the Public Council of the Ministry on Cooperation with Churches and Religious Organizations under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and the Advisory Council of Theologians Without Borders. Since 2011, the main type of his professional activity is the development of theological and educational structures, initiatives and projects in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
The presentation will be held in English, but simultaneous translation into Ukrainian will be provided. The Q&A session will also be bilingual. So, everyone is welcome to join us. The meeting will take place on December 20 at 6:00 p.m. Kyiv time on Zoom.
